One of the cultural sites is the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad across the river Drina in the east of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built at the end of the 16th century by the court architect Mimar Koca Sinan on the orders of the Grand Vizier Mehmed Paša Sokolović. It is one of his masterpieces of Ottoman monumental architecture. The architect Sinan is well known for his bridges mostly all of them inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage list.
The bridge in Višegrad was a main topic of the novel “Na Drini ćuprija” written by the Nobel Prize laureate Ivo Andrić.
It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 2007.
Another UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site is in the city of Mostar. It includes the Old Mostar Bridge and the area of the Old City. It was inscribed on the list in 2005.
The Old Mostar Bridge is located on the river Neretva it was built under Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century and it served as a strategic and trade link in Mostar.
According to legend the architect Mimar Hajrudin escaped after the construction of the bridge because he was scared the bridge would collapse and thus he would be executed. So he had never seen his masterpiece.
Another interesting fact about the bridge is that it was built using egg yolks as binder and there was no concrete connecting the two banks.
The Kriva Ćuprija or the Crooked Bridge was built in the 16th century and it served as a gathering place for the locals.
The Halebija Tower is one of the two defensive towers located at the end of the Old Mostar Bridge the other one being the Tara Tower. Halebija was built in the 17th century and it provided a clear view of all incoming threats.
The Old Bazar or Kujundžiluk is the main market street. It is full of traditional Bosnian shops and many cosy restaurants serving delicious local food.
The Koski Mehmed Paša Mosque was constructed in the 17th century. It represents a symbol of Ottoman power and influence in the area. Today it has both a religious and an educational purpose for the Islamic community.
Stećci are the cemeteries which date from the 12th to 16th centuries are laid out in rows as was the common custom in Europe from the Middle Ages. Stećci are mostly carved from limestone. They feature a wide range of decorative motifs and inscriptions that represent iconographic continuities within medieval Europe as well as locally distinctive traditions. This serial property combines 28 sites located in Bosnia and Herzegovina western Serbia northern Montenegro and southern Croatia representing these cemeteries and regionally distinctive medieval tombstones or stećci.
A natural property in Bosnia and Herzegovina are the Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe. This transnational property includes 94 component parts in 18 countries. The forests are an invaluable population of old trees and they are an outstanding example of undisturbed temperate forests.

Sevdalinka or sevdah is a traditional urban folk song showing strong emotion. It presents both Oriental and Slavic culture.
Jumping off the Old Mostar Bridge is a traditional competition organized every year in mid-summer.There is a plan to preserve this tradition on the world cultural heritage list of intangible properties.
