Opis materijala
The learning scenario "Raisin(g) in the Sun - Teaching Dreams" is a well-rounded school-project plan that integrates literature, film, history, digital/AI-creation and personal reflection, with a complete plan sequence for 6 English lessons, structured in a teacher-friendly format, with objectives, timing, methods, materials, and assessment ideas for each lesson stage (warm-up, main part, reinforcement/wrap-up). The scenario fits the English Language Curriculum (Unit 5 - Planet Earth, Pearson Focus 2nd Edition, Level 3), with valuable extension / cross-curricular links: History/Civics - Civil Rights Movement, segregation laws; English Language & American Literature, character analysis, persuasive speaking (defending one’s dream); Media Literacy - Film; ICT: Using digital tools for creative self-expression.
The scenario was created within a special educational setting: as a part of the eTwinning/ESEP collaboration in the International School Library Month (October), preparing students/junior European Parliament ambassadors for celebrating Global Education Week (November) and African-American History Month (October in Europe, February in the USA).
Znanja koja će učenici steći
Students will explore social and historical themes, learn about the struggles against racism, slavery and gender inequality through media education (film, literature) & dialogues on family values, respect, equality, inclusion, cultural diversity, peace and social justice within the school community. Students will understand the concept of the American Dream and its evolution. Students will reflect on personal and cultural values; recognize the value of personal dreams and perseverance. Students will realize the importance of school libraries as centers for learning, creativity and literacy. Students will appreciate film/literature as a medium for expressing social ideas, cultural identity and historical context. Students will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as creative digital skills, by interpreting characters’ motivations, conflicts and outcomes in the film. Students will deepen understanding of the original text by comparing and contrasting the literary version with the film adaptation. Global citizenship will be fostered by encouraging students to think critically about the world and their role in it. Project work (learning-scenario implementation) will connect eTwinning partner schools internationally; students & teachers will share ideas and experiences across cultures, encouraging active participation in building a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable world.
