    This interdisciplinary language event celebrates the European Day of Languages through engaging, multilingual, and gamified tasks. Students rotate through three themed stations that promote communication, problem-solving, creativity, and intercultural awareness. The activity encourages the use of multiple languages in authentic contexts, demonstrating that languages connect rather than divide.

    By the end of the activity, students will be able to: Communicate effectively using a mix of English, German, and Italian. Demonstrate understanding of language similarities and differences. Decode multilingual texts and solve language-based challenges. Create visual and digital content (memes, videos, quizzes) expressing idiomatic meaning. Reflect on the value of multilingualism and cultural diversity.

    Station 1 – Languages with Borders

    Opis aktivnosti

    Students act as travelers and border officers at multilingual checkpoints. Each pair receives a role card with a short dialogue that mixes English, German, and Italian. The goal is to communicate successfully and “cross the border.” (Students pair up and select a role card. Each performs the dialogue, then switches roles. After completion, they collect a passport stamp.)

    Station 2 – Language Detectives

    Opis aktivnosti

    Students become language detectives who must solve five multilingual puzzles (loanwords, false friends, idioms, cognates) to unlock a final passport code and “escape” the border checkpoint. (Teams receive the storyline: “You are travelers stuck at a secret border checkpoint…” Students solve five puzzles step by step (unscramble, match, decode, riddles, cognates). Each correct answer reveals part of the final passport code. When the full code is complete, they receive their final border stamp.)

    Station 3 – Lost in Translation

    Opis aktivnosti

    A creative station where students explore idioms in English, German, and Italian. They visualize literal and figurative meanings through memes, Kahoot quiz and short animated videos created with Delightex. (Quiz Warm-Up: Students guess idiom meanings using a Kahoot prepared by senior students. Meme Creation: Students choose 2–3 idioms, illustrate literal vs. real meaning using Canva or paper templates. Video Animation: Groups use Delightex to animate literal idioms. Class Quiz: Students show their videos; peers guess meanings before the real ones are revealed.)
