In this 45-minute lesson for Statehood Day (May 30), students with special needs work in groups to design a poster of their own "dream nation." With guided prompts and visual supports, they create a flag, motto, values, holiday, and landmark, then present their country using simple sentence starters.

Students will be able to: understand the significance of Dan državnosti (Statehood Day), reflect on the values and symbols of Croatian statehood, collaborate to design creative representations of a modern, inclusive nation, develop speaking, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

Their task is to: name their country, create a flag and motto, choose 5 core values your nation will stand for, decide on a national holiday and how it is celebrated, add a symbolic landmark (monument, natural place, etc.), prepare a short 1-minute presentation.
