    This lesson plan is designed for the beginning of a school year. This activity not only teaches students how to visually represent data but also promotes self-reflection and social interaction through group discussion.

    Activity 1 Intorduction

    Opis aktivnosti

    Teacher explains that students will be making a pie chart to represent how they spent their time during the holidays, explains how a pie-chart visually shows proportions, and gives an example (you can draw one on the board). Students brainstorm categories: Sleeping, Watching TV/Movies, Playing video games, Studying/Working, Spending time with family/friends, Doing chores, Exercising, Traveling, Learning something new…

    Activity 2 Creating the Pie Chart

    Opis aktivnosti

    Individual Work: Students think back to how they spent their holidays and estimate how much time they spent on each activity. Teacher instructs them to create a rough draft of their pie chart, dividing it into sections based on the time spent on each activity. Students label each section and use colors and graphics to represent different activities. Teacher helps students calculate the approximate proportions. For example, if they slept for 8 hours a day, that would be one-third of a 24-hour day or 33% of the pie chart.

    Activity 3 Group Discussion and Comparison

    Opis aktivnosti

    Group work: Students form small groups (3-4 members). In their groups, students show their pie charts to each other and explain how they spent their time. Students to ask each other questions, such as: "Which activity took up most of your time?" "Was there anything you wished you had spent more/less time on?" "Did you do anything new or unexpected during the holidays?" Students note similarities and differences between their pie charts. Students discuss which activities were common across the group and which were unique to individuals.

    Activity 4 Class Reflection

    One or two groups share their findings with the class. What activities took up the most time for most students? Were there any surprising or unique categories?

    Opis aktivnosti

    Students answer the following questions: Have I created a pie chart with 5/6 elements? Have I accurately reflected time distribution? Have I taken an active part in the discussion/reflection?
