By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use food vocabulary, cooking verbs, and quantifiers to describe the process of making a pizza.

Activity 1

Whole class – students brainstorm as many food items as they can think of related to pizza on the whiteboard; students describe the taste and the appearance of the items on the board.

Activity 2 Cooking verbs

Individual work – students revise cooking verbs with the help of a quiz. Students use the verbs with their own examples

Activity 3 Quantifiers

Individual work – students do a quiz on quantifiers.

Activity 4 Discussion- Favourite Pizza

Group work - students discuss their favourite types of pizza; they use the vocabulary and quantifiers learned; each group then shares their favourite pizza with the class.

Activity 5 Pizza recipe

Pair work – students read the recipe for pizza dough, some words are missing – quantifiers and cooking verbs; they do the cloze test; they try to retell the recipe by heart. Group work – students prepare the ingredients for pizza toppings and they describe the procedure. Each team gets green, yellow or red paper and they can have ingredients that are of that colour only.

Activity 6 Formative Assessment

Students choose the most creative recipe as well as the one they think would taste the best.
