The goal of this learning scenario is to understand the various advantages and disadvantages of fame, develop critical thinking skills, and engage in a debate about positive and negative aspects of fame.

Activity 1 Would you rather?

Group work –students take turns in taking a card and answering questions; they select one of the possibilities and then say what they would rather be or do (even if the idea may be imaginary and really impossible). The players should explain their choices.

Activity 2 Answering questions

Whole class – students answer questions about fame 1) How do you think fame affects people's personal lives? 2) How do you think being famous impacts a person's ability to maintain relationships with friends and family? 3) How do you think social media has influenced the concept of fame? 4) Do you think the media accurately portrays the reality of fame, or is it often exaggerated? 5) What do you believe are the biggest challenges of being a public figure in today's society? 6) Do you agree with the statement that fame is a price you pay for being in the entertainment industry?

Activity 3 Skit about celebreties dealing with fame

Group work – teacher distributes cards with skits to teams; teams role-play their skit about celebreties dealing with fame; other teams guess what their skit is about .

Activity 4 Top 10 list

Group work – teams make a top ten list with famous peopele; they answer the question about what they are they famous for and explain their lists.

Activity 5 Video clip analysis

Individual work – students watch two video clips and write down what the famous people say about fame – advantages and disadvantages of being famous. They watch only the first minute of the video clip about the influencer. Activity 6 Advantages and Disadvantages of being Famous

Group work – teacher divide the class into small groups and assigns each group either the advantages or disadvantages of being famous. Groups prepare for the debate by answering the following questions: 1) What are the key points for your assigned topic? 2) Can you think of real-life examples that illustrate these points? 3) How do these points impact the lives of famous people and those around them?

Activity 7 Debate

Group work – teams debate each other on the topic of fame; they use the debating language.

Activity 8 Behind the spotlight: Exploring the lives of the famous

Group work – teams create a detailed profile of a famous person, providing insights into both the glamorous and challenging aspects of fame; they decide who does what in the profile; once they are done with the profile, they present their profile to the rest of the class.

Activity 9 Formative assessment

Individual work – students write three things they don’t like about the fame, two things they like about the fame and one thing they would change if they were famous.
