The material was created within the 5-week EVO course AI in ELT for the purpose of educating students/ junior European Parliament ambassadors within the extracurricular EPAS program, particularly ones who will be old enough to vote in the European elections (in June 2024). The material is aimed at AI art-based vocabulary building, AI/Twee-driven reading & listening comprehension, speaking & creative expression (writing & song creation). It incorporates English language learning (encouraging communicative linguistic competence SŠ (1) EJ A.4.1., SŠ (1) EJ A.4.3., SŠ (1) EJ A.4.4., SŠ (1) EJ A.4.5.; intercultural communicative competence SŠ (1) EJ B.4.3. & independence in language mastery SŠ (1) EJ C.4.1.-6.; outcomes defined by Croatian National Curriculum) and cross-curricular subjects: Civic Education (goo A.5.2., goo B.5.2.), Personal Development (osr A.5.1., osr B.5.1.-3., osr C.5.3.), Learn How to Learn (uku A.4/5.1.-4., uku B.4/5.4., uku D.4/5.2.), ICT (ikt A.5.1.-3., ikt B.5.2.-3., ikt D.5.1.-3.), Health (zdr B.5.1/A.). Learning objectives are to to explore the use of AI-generated art (Bing-created images, stories, Runway videos and Suno-generated songs with Democracy theme) and AI-generated texts/tasks (Twee AI) as a tool for enhancing vocabulary building, developing 5 linguistic skills, critical thinking skill and creative expression in English language learning; to create a practical, engaging, and interactive learning experience for students; to improve students' vocabulary retention & develop linguistic skills through visual association and real-life contemporary problem discussions. By the end of the lesson students will be able to use different AI-tools (Bing Copilot/ChatGPT, Bing Image Creator, Runway, Suno AI & chosen AI Story Generators) for prompting and generating images, (assisted) creative writing (poem/haiku/short story), creating music/songs, vocabulary building and language learning through image descriptions/storytelling). The students will understand the importance of youths' participation in European democratic processes (and hopefully decide to vote in the European elections 2024).
